As a team, we are responsible for operational sustainability and climate policy development, planning and programs, best management practices for the natural campus environment and systems, sustainability and regulatory carbon performance monitoring and reporting, and sustainability awareness and community engagement programs. Our work is aligned with UBC’s sustainability and climate imperatives and we work closely with colleagues across UBC to achieve our collective goals.

We also develop and monitor sustainability and climate-related policies, plans, programs and initiatives, develop and implement sustainability and climate-related community engagement programs that facilitate change and build capacity within units and departments, and integrate sustainability in capital projects through UBC’s Integrated Sustainability Process and develop/adapt UBC Green Building Guidelines/Policies for the campus.

In addition, we can facilitate environmental assessments and best management practices for the natural campus environment and systems, lead campus sustainability and climate performance measurement, reporting and benchmarking, including regulatory carbon emission reporting and offsets for the campus, in accordance with Provincially legislated requirements, as well as contribute to the development of broader Campus Plans (Campus Plan, Design Guidelines, Transportation Plan, etc.), collaborate with utility providers, City of Kelowna, and partners in the pursuit of climate leadership and resource conservation, and support the campus as a living laboratory and student learning opportunities.
