UBC Board of Governors Sustainability and Climate Reporting
The Sustainability Office is responsible for reporting UBC Okanagan’s operational sustainability performance in accordance with UBC Okanagan policies and plans endorsed by UBC Board of Governors under Policy UP12.
Through regular reporting to the Board of Governors, we ensure compliance with UBC Policy UP12, monitor progress toward Board-approved targets and identify areas for improvement and strategic action. This reporting also supports lead units in planning and implementing future initiatives that align with our policies and strategic plans.
The UBC Annual Sustainability Report provides a comprehensive overview of the university’s sustainability performance in operations, teaching, learning and research.
It aligns with Board Policy UP12 and reflects progress against key plans and policies such as the UBC Okanagan Campus Plan, CAP 2030, Whole Systems Infrastructure Plan and the Integrated Rainwater Management Plan.
The UBC Okanagan Sustainability Office serves as the point of contact for campus-specific content. The office contributes operational performance metrics, drafts narrative content, coordinates input from operational and academic stakeholders and leads the review process for UBCO’s contributions to the report.

Developed by the Sustainability Office, the UBCO CAP 2030 Implementation Update Report provides an executive summary of key achievements from the past year that advance the campus towards our 2030 targets.

2022 Progress Report
The Climate Emergency Task Force Report tracks UBC’s progress in responding to its Climate Emergency Declaration, focusing on student, faculty and staff-led actions aligned with the task force’s recommendations.
This work is currently led by the UBC Sustainability Hub and has primarily focused on the Vancouver campus. While UBC Okanagan contributed to the initial Climate Emergency Task Force submission to the Board, the Sustainability Office has not been engaged in follow-up reporting to date.
